June 13th-17th camp information for parents

Intersection UNC Greensboro: Technology and Innovation Explored Through Fashion, Archaeology, and The Arts

We are excited to welcome students to this unique one-week day camp on the UNCG campus in collaboration with the Greensboro Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

Here we offer important details for parents/guardians of attending students.

Arrival and Pick-up:

Please arrive at the UNCG School of Music, 100 McIver Street, between 8:45 and 9:00 a.m. each day, Monday through Friday. Park in the McIver Deck. Accompany your child to the check-in desk to receive camp credentials, name tag, flash drive, and earbuds which will issued for use during camp. NOTE: Name tags and other materials for camp will be collected at check-out 2:45 Monday through Thursday. Materials will be kept in separate plastic bags for each student and will be used as the official check-in each day.

Monday: Pop Tech, Dr. Mark Engerbretson, SOM;

Tuesday: Fashion, Dr. Elena Karpova, Dr. Melanie Carrico, Dr. Trish Kemerly CARS, Bryan School;

Wednesday, Animation, Dan Hale, Dr. Heather Holian SOA;

Thursday, Technical Theatre, Natalie Sowell and Clare Parker, Theatre Dept.

Friday, Archaeology, Dr. Linda Stone, BLIS, CAS; Visual Arts, Ann Grimaldi, Robert Rose WAM.  Parents are invited to the Friday June 17th Capstone at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, 500 Tate Street. Parking is available behind the museum. RSVP via Evite

PARKING:

Parking The College of Visual and Performing Arts 100 McIver St, Greensboro, NC 27412 PO Box 26170, Greensboro, NC 27402-6170 Tel: 336-334-5789. The McIver Deck has free 30-minute parking for check-in and pick-up. There are two entrances to the parking deck – one in the School of Music circle and a second just past the School of Music at 132 West McIver Street. Please do not back up on McIver Street. Proceed to the second entrance to facilitate check-in.

COVID Protocol: UNCG is “mask optional” campus wide. Students are requested to wear a mask indoors if they have a known exposure. Symptomatic students are requested to not attend. Please text 336-834-2743 to update camp administrators on COVID related attendance restrictions.

Dress, Food, and Personal Technology: Students should dress as they might for a relaxed school day. There will be extensive walking across campus to different classrooms and computer labs. Please text 336-834-2743 if mobility assistance is needed. Lunch is provided daily n the Fountain View cafeteria where students will enjoy choices from several food stations. Students may bring their cell phones; no home-based technology is needed (no tablets or laptops). Campus computer labs and licensed software used in degree programs will be accessible to students for instruction by UNCG faculty.  Students may have cell phones as permitted by parents/guardians.
