Greensboro Branch achieves 501c3 status

ANNOUNCEMENT from Branch President Libby Haile: The Greensboro Branch is proud to announce its new 501c3 status which was granted by the IRS in a Letter of Determination dated August 15, 2016. Several months ago, our Board launched the process of state incorporation, updated by-laws, election of officers, and IRS filing for tax exemption. We received invaluable support and guidance from Millie Hoffler-Foushee as well as the legal and financial resources at AAUW National. We expect to be able to expand our local programs in support of economic and educational equity for women and girls. For 2017, the Branch will be the fiscal agent for its March 25 Triad Tech Savvy relieving National of that responsibility. Our donors and sponsors will gain tax deductible benefits for their donations. In order to build on this fantastic opportunity, the Board is also developing a multi-year strategic plan with the help of UNCG non-profit management professor Tony LeTrent-Jones. The Branch Board is particularly indebted to Treasurer Stephanie Ghotbi-Taheri for her diligent efforts in preparing and filing the necessary documents to achieve this milestone.
