Four membership program meetings are planned for 2021-2022.  Meetings are FREE and open to the public. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, meetings will be designed to address and minimize risks.

Whitney Oakley, Ed.D., Chief Academic Officer, Guilford County Schools


Whitney Oakley has served as the Chief Academic Officer in Guilford County Schools since 2019, serving more than 70,000 students across 128 schools.  Under her leadership alongside Superintendent Sharon Contreras, the district has maintained a relentless focus on equity.  Dr. Oakley has led the implementation of high quality instructional materials, and in 2019 GCS increased proficiency for all subgroups in all tested grade levels in 2019.  Previously, she supervised Teaching and Learning and Elementary Education in Guilford from 2012-2019.  She served as a turnaround principal in Alamance County, NC and has teaching experience in special education, Kindergarten and third grade.  Her doctoral work focused on high performing young female principals in the 21st century.  She earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2011; she also earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2005 and her bachelor’s degree in Special Education from East Carolina University.

Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. Annual Soup Luncheon with a Taste of Diversity. One of our favorite events as members share over Zoom the soup that they have selected. Program by Everlena Diggs and the DEI committee. Details to follow.
