Online Coding Courses
4th through 8th Grade Girls – You can do this!!
September 2022 – online, free instruction by high school mentors for middle and upper elementary schools girls. Girls will register for self-directed and individualized learning using a series of asynchronous tools. The format for each lesson will be to watch a video (about 10 minutes), complete a self directed exercise based on the instruction video, and then submit a short progress check to give us feedback on your experience. You will be in direct contact with your instructor by email.

Step 2: You will be contacted by an instructor who will provide details to get you started.
Step 3: Create an account on the course website, such as: https://studio.code.org/home
Step 4: Watch the introductory videos in the first lesson. Contact your instructor to help you succeed at your own pace.
Step 5: Capstone In-person Event – Saturday October 8th, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kathleen Clay Edwards Library. This is a drop in event at which girls will have an opportunity to meet with their instructor, network with other students , and demonstrate what you have learned about App Design and Web Design. Pick up your Gift bags to recognize your efforts and accomplishments.
Step 6: Continue with more advanced designs, coached by your instructor.
Step 7: Sign up for additional home based coding activities.
Step 8: Attend future Cap Stone in-person events to work with your instructors.
