WXII The Local Vibe interview with Terra McKee February 27th

Ms. Terra McKee is both an Educator and a STEM Scientist. With a graduation date of May 2023, Ms. McKee is currently a 3rd year Ph.D. student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Applied Science and Technology. During her academic journey, she has held many GIS and Drone related positions (e.g., Fire Department GIS Analyst, Air Pollution Mapper, Computer Predictive Modeler, Soil Scientist, GIS Map Librarian, Data Analyst). She has worked in local government, state government, and federal government. Her experience and expertise at each level have permitted her to participate in a variety of projects, such as writing divisional GIS standard operating procedures, performing benchmark reporting, and training fellow employees. She has always fostered an inclusive and diverse environment, be it in the classroom or the work environment. Ms. McKee has been recognized by her university as a Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellow (2019 – Present) and as a Rising Graduate Scholar for the College of Science and Technology (2020). Additionally, Ms. McKee is a member of the inaugural class of graduate-level Gates Foundation Millennium Scholars, a Theodore R. Speigner Geography Award recipient, and a certi ed Geographic Information System Professional (GISP # 58089) Ms. McKee has previously hosted several GIS & Drones workshops for AAUW-Greensboro and for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The workshops discuss topics, such as GIS & Drones Applications, Careers and Internships, and Hands-On Skill Development (e.g., image processing, GIS mapping, presenting). Ms. McKee has worked with drones for academic and K 12 Outreach. She most recently hosted a Drones workshop for the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA Young Achievers Program at Jackson Middle School in Greensboro, North Carolina
