Tribute to Janie Dominique November 13, 2025

As a 23 year member of the AAUW Greensboro Branch, Janie was involved in many aspects of branch activities.  She welcomed many new members and was especially interested in helping them find a path for involvement.  She was valuable on the Membership Committee and the Nominating Committees.  You could find Janie in many levels of AAAW programming from our fundraiser with a Concession Stand at the Wyndham Golf Tournament to attending AAUW Summer Leadership Conferences, traveling across the state with others in our branch interacting with members from other North Carolina Branches.  Janie saw the value of belonging to AAUW.  Going one step more, she and Elaine Morehead found that they could attend National Conventions if they helped to volunteer during the 4 days of National Convention.  We would be remiss if we didn’t mention that Janie was from the New Orleans area and was well known in the branch for helping spark our successful Prospective Member Mardi Gras party events.  We shall miss Janie as we look for others to fill her shoes. As is our policy, AAUW Greensboro will contribute $50 to National AAUW in memory of Janie. By Mary Fran Schickedantz, membership chair.
