PROGRAM BOOKLET FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS
SULLIVAN SCIENCE: Check in is open from 7:45 to 8:15 on Saturday April 7 at Sullivan Science Building, 301 McIver Street on the UNCG campus
PARKING – FREE PARKING IS AVAILABLE IN THE MCIVER GARAGE FROM 7:30 AM TO 3:30 PM FOR TRIAD TECH SAVVY PARENTS, PRESENTERS, ATTENDEES, AND VOLUNTEERS
ATTENDEES and PARENTS: Please proceed directly to check-in tables in the Sullivan Lobby. Our volunteers are organized and ready with your program booklets, tote bags, t-shirts, and name tags.
ATTENDING STUDENTS will then be directed to the group assignment station. We have 12 groups and you have been assigned based on your grade level and prior experience at Triad Tech Savvy. We have several NEW sessions this year, including a trek to the Wetlands on the UNCG campus, Info Savvy in the Moore Building Computer Lab, Chemistry in the Kitchen, Biology – the STEM of Life, and Engineering with the A&T Aggies. Our popular sessions that are returning this year include: Cosmetics Chemistry, Robotics, Animation, Strawberry DNA, and Nanoscience activities from the mobile Nanobus. All presenters are excited to be with you this year. I hope you get to try something entirely new!!
ATTENDING STUDENT BREAKFAST is being served in the Syngenta Lobby. There is an assortment of biscuits and fruit juices as well as croissants as the vegetarian option. We did not receive any requests for gluten free meals, however, we have arranged for fresh fruit upon request as needed. AT 8:30 ATTENDING STUDENTS WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE AUDITORIUM SULLIVAN ROOM 101 FOR A VERY SPECIAL OPENING PROGRAM BY JOY NELSON THOMAS OF LEAD GIRLS OF NC. You will meet your group leaders and proceed to your first workshop at 9 a.m. You will two workshop blocks in the morning, lunch on the fourth floor lobby, and one workshop block in the afternoon. The Closing session will start at 2:30 and we will adjourn at 3:00 p.m.
ATTENDING PARENTS BREAKFAST AND PROGRAM: Parents will check in with your daughters and will be directed to the second floor lobby for CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST with fruit, Danish pastries, biscuits, muffins, coffee, tea, and juice. AT 8:30 PARENTS WILL BE INVITED TO ROOM 201 FOR A VERY SPECIAL PROGRAM “HELPING DAUGHTERS FIND THEIR STEM” LEAD BY AAUW NC CO-PRESIDENT JANE TERWILLEGAR AND AAUW GREENSBORO INCOMING PRESIDENT LENA MURRILL CHAPMAN. At 10:30 parents may take guiding tours of the Triad Tech Savvy workshops in Sullivan and Eberhart, as well as Moore, Petty, and the Wetlands. At 11:30, Spartan Chariot busses will arrive for campus tours with drop off at the Jackson Library.
RAIN PREPARATIONS: Since we are using not only facilities in Sullivan Science but also Eberhart, Moore, Petty, and the Wetlands, we will provide clear ponchos in case of rain, which is predicted at 50%.
PICK UP: At 3:00 pm on Carr Street in front of Sullivan Science, or you may park in McIver Garage and come to building to meet your students.
